The purpose of the course is to expose participants to Auto-SEM-EDS machines as a tool for ore characterization/geometallurgical/mineralogical research, investigation and trouble shooting. Introductions to the instrument as a Scanning Electron Microscope and the instrument as an automated mineralogical assessment tool will be made. Basic system operation of the SEM and Data Interrogation packages/modules will be discussed. Particle and image processing will be dealt with, with a view to maximizing the usefulness of standard reports and data extraction. Finally, the types of analysis modes and their advantages and disadvantages will be discussed.
The target audience includes process mineralogists, process engineers, mineral engineers, mineralogists, metallurgists and laboratory managers.
The course is offered over two days at R6500 (excl. VAT) per person (limited availability) and includes course notes, refreshments and lunches.
